Sugar, Spice, & Balance

If “He” (The Prince) and “She” (The Princess),
were the “Ones” we always think about
when we write,
they might appear like streams
near castles, towering into clouds,
dotted in floralscapes,
tossed with variegated, jazzy, butterflies,
with stray fairy feathers
always careening upward in wind–
We do every, and anything
to impose ourselves flat
in that single dimension.

Yet, even still,
seasons would render
cold, brown, dry, and barren,
lifescapes beneath the lead
of pencil’s scrolling;
For which we deftly scatter imagination
modestly between the arid bramble
creating believable beauty
that meets everyone
in dimensions immeasurable.

I love the notion of human beings imposing ourselves into a dimension of topography we barely see, much less understand. Very nicely done.
